Please read this Privacy Statement carefully. It applies to any personal information that you provide to Southern Cross or Chubb Life or authorise either of us to collect.
You authorise Southern Cross and Chubb Life to collect, use, hold and disclose your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Statement if you:
- provide Southern Cross or Chubb Life with, or authorise either of us to collect, personal information; or
- use this Southern Cross Life Insurance website (https://www.southerncrosslife.co.nz) (Website), or use our telephone or other services.
Personal information you provide Southern Cross through Southern Cross Medical Care Society channels will be collected and held by Southern Cross.
Personal information you provide through the following parts of this Website (the Chubb Life Website Services) will be collected and held directly by Chubb Life:
- the pages that help you calculate the amount of cover you may require (the “Calculate your cover” page); and
- the pages that enable you to obtain a quote and complete an application (the “Get an easy quote” pages, or “Get a quote” pages, or the “quote tool”, and the “Apply now” pages, or the “application tool”).
All other parts of this Website are provided by Southern Cross and any information will be collected and held directly by Southern Cross.
Information collected or held by Southern Cross
Information collected by Southern Cross through Southern Cross Medical Care Society channels may be supplied to Chubb Life for the purposes of promoting the Southern Cross Life Insurance products to you.
Southern Cross may use any personal information collected from you for training and business improvement purposes. Southern Cross may share any personal information collected from you with its related entities, including but not limited to Southern Cross Medical Care Society. You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information Southern Cross Medical Care Society holds about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. If you wish to request a copy of your personal information, or to have it corrected, please contact Southern Cross Medical Care Society at southerncross.co.nz/contact or phone 0800 800 181.
Southern Cross Medical Care Society will not disclose any personal health information it holds about you regarding your Southern Cross Medical Care Society health insurance to Chubb Life.
Information collected or held by Chubb Life
Any personal information provided to, or collected by, Chubb Life (including through use of the Chubb Life Website Services and Southern Cross Life Insurance telephone services) will be collected, used, held and disclosed in accordance with this Privacy Statement and Chubb Life’s Privacy Statement.
If there is any inconsistency between this privacy statement and Chubb Life’s privacy policies, this privacy statement will take precedence.
Chubb Life may disclose personal information you provide, and any other information collected by Chubb Life as underwriter and administrator of the insurance policies, to Southern Cross (and its related entities, including but not limited to Southern Cross Medical Care Society) for the purpose of allowing these Southern Cross entities to market their products and services to you, as well as to validate discounts relating to any relevant Southern Cross Medical Care Society membership. However, in no circumstances will Chubb Life disclose any of your personal health information to Southern Cross (or its related entities).
It is voluntary to provide your personal information to Chubb Life. However, if you choose not to, Chubb Life may not be able to provide life insurance services to you.
