Prize draw Terms and Conditions

  1. Southern Cross Life Insurance is provided and underwritten by Chubb Life Insurance New Zealand Limited (‘Chubb Life’) and promoted and marketed by Southern Cross Insurance Services Limited (‘Southern Cross’).
  2. This promotion is an offer to eligible new Southern Cross Life Insurance policyholders to be entered into a prize draw to win the equivalent of 6 months’ free premiums (‘Prize Draw’).
  3. The Promoter for this Prize Draw is Southern Cross. Chubb Life is the Administrator of the Prize Draw.


    4. Eligibility criteria

  4. To be eligible for entry into the Prize Draw an eligible applicant must submit a completed application for a new Southern Cross Life Insurance policy (‘Policy’) between 1 August and 14 October 2024 (the ‘Promotional Period’) and have the Policy issued by Chubb Life by, and be in-force on, 25 October 2024 (the ‘End Date’).
  5. Applications must be completed and submitted either online at www.southerncrosslife.co.nz or over the phone with Chubb Life’s Southern Cross Life Insurance team.
  6. Applicants who have a pending application for, or who already hold, a Southern Cross Life Insurance policy at the beginning of the Promotional Period are not eligible.


    7. The Prize

  7. There are 40 (Forty) Prizes to be won. Each Prize is the award of a credit of at least 6 month’s premium on the Policy.
  8. Each Prize will be awarded by crediting an amount of premium to the Policy. The amount credited will depend on the premium payment frequency on the Policy and will be calculated as follows:

    • for customers paying fortnightly, an amount equal to 14 fortnights’ premium.
    • for customers paying by other frequencies, an amount equal to 6 months’ premium.

    9. Prize winners paying by direct debit and credit card will automatically have their future premiums adjusted for the amount of premium credited to their Policy.

  9. Other than for Prize winners paying half-yearly or annually in advance and who have paid their half-yearly or annual premium prior to being awarded a Prize, the amount credited to the Policy will not be refunded (including on cancellation of the Policy).
  10. Subject to paragraph 9 above, the Prize is non-transferable, non-refundable, non-exchangeable and is not redeemable for cash.
  11. The Prize is not available in conjunction with any other Southern Cross Life Insurance promotion or offer. If the winner of a Prize is eligible for any other free premium offer or promotion on the Policy, the free premium period for this Prize will be reduced by the free premium period under the other offer or promotion (so that the maximum total free premium period on the Policy will be no more than 6 months).
  12. To the extent permitted by law Chubb Life and Southern Cross makes no warranty or guarantee in relation to the Prize. Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to limit or exclude any liability under the Consumer Guarantee Act 1993 or any other statutory rights that the Prize winner may have in relation to the Prize.


    13. The Prize Draw

  13. The Prize Draw will take place on Tuesday 29 October 2024, and one Prize will be awarded to each of the first 40 (forty) entries drawn at random from all eligible entries.
  14. Entries are limited to a total of one entry per person.
  15. Chubb Life’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  16. Chubb Life will use all reasonable efforts to contact the Winners.
  17. Winners agree to publication of their first name and town or city of residence as winners of the Prize Draw.
  18. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, Chubb Life and Southern Cross (and their officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability for any direct, indirect, special or consequential loss, damage or injury arising in any way in connection with the Prize Draw or acceptance or use of any Prize.
  19. The Prize Draw is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered or associated with Facebook/Instagram. Each Eligible Participant released Facebook/Instagram from any losses, claims or actions arising from or in connection (either directly or indirectly), with the Prize Draw.


    20. General

  20. Application for a Policy during the Promotional Period is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  21. Decisions about accepting applications are solely the responsibility of Chubb Life, and are subject to Chubb Life’s underwriting and assessment criteria. Southern Cross accepts no liability for those decisions.
  22. Southern Cross and Chubb Life accept no liability for applications that are incomplete or defective, that are submitted outside the Promotional Period, or where the policy is not issued until after the End Date.
  23. Chubb Life and Southern Cross reserve the right to change the terms and conditions of this Prize Draw, to end it early, or extend it at any time.
